Project name: ESIA for Qena 2×650 MWe Supercritical Thermal Power Plant

Project Description

The project is situated on the western bank of the Nile River at a distance about 13km southwest of the famous historical Dandara city on approximately an area of 128,100 sq m plus 50,400  sq m. It consists of two supercritical thermal steam units, with a nominal electricity generating capacity of 650 megawatts (MWe) each.

Scope of Services

An assessment of the environmental and social impacts relating to the following:

– Physical and geographical suitability.

– Public acceptability of the proposed facilities.

– Public health exposure risk.

– Solid & hazardous Wastes transfer, re-cycling, treatment, disposal.

– Management control and operational practices to be employed.

– Potential for accidents and failures to be foreseen and mitigated.

– Monitoring, long-term restoration and aftercare of reuse facilities.

– Pollution abatement options to be employed.
